Thomas Rotherham College was delighted to unveil its new Academy football team kit in partnership with leading local Chartered Accountancy firm, Sutton McGrath Hartley.
The firm, with offices based in Rotherham, Sheffield, Chesterfield and Buxton are the new shirt sponsors of the College’s Academy team programme.
The GOAL football Academy at Thomas Rotherham College is a specialist football academy linked to Rotherham United FC. Students on the programme receive 9 hours a week football training in addition to studying academically at the College. Students play at a high standard of football with former students moving onto professional and semi-professional clubs and into higher education both in the UK and in the US.
The team are trained by Head Coach and former professional football player and manager, Martin McIntosh. During his career, Martin made just short of 500 appearances in the Scottish Football League, Scottish Premier League and English Football League, of which he made 107 appearances for local team Rotherham Utd between 2001-2005.
Representatives from Sutton McGrath Hartley visited the College last week to meet the players, including Managing Director, James Hartley, Marketing Director, Brendan Hall and Legal Executive and former student of the College, Hannah Berridge. Hannah studied Psychology, Law and English Literature at the College between 2006-2009 which led her straight into employment in a large national law firm, before taking up her position at Sutton McGrath Hartley in early 2017.
James Hartley, the Managing Director of SMH said, “We’re delighted to offer our sponsorship to the team. The new kit looks fantastic and it’s great to see our investment going towards getting the team kitted out in new gear for the current season, which the team have had a flying start to.
“SMH is a very community focused business, and being Chartered Accountants, Financial Advisers and Legal Executives we fully appreciate the value the education system has on our business, as many of our staff are college or further education graduates, so it’s great to be able to give something back like this.
“We have a key focus on Rotherham; we service many clients in the area via our town centre office on The Crofts, and are hoping to expand further in the region. The sponsorship gives us some great brand exposure to the Rotherham community.”
