About SMH Group
Since 1995 Sutton McGrath Hartley have been a Chartered Accountancy firm based in Sheffield and Chesterfield. In 2018 the firm began an exciting growth period, first acquiring BullockWoodburn followed by Haywood & Co, Andertons Liversidge, Jolliffe Cork, Malcolm J Harris, BCL Accountants, D’Arcy Howard & Co, Howard Matthews. and Sheards.
Now, with over 150 staff across 9 offices and additional services being offered within the group, it has become clear that for the clients of each office to benefit, everything should be tied together with a new SMH branding.
In 2022, the SMH Group was born, with all the individual offices having their original names prefixed with ‘SMH’. The change allows us to give each office access to the wider group’s services, whilst keeping the local knowledge and expertise in each area.
The rebrand was the vision of James Hartley in a bid to make sure there is a clear path and structure for existing and new group entities. The mission of the newly formed SMH Group is to ‘ensure no financial stone is left unturned’ to enable clients to access all their financial requirements within one group of companies.
James Hartley, Chairman explains: “What appeals to all the companies that have joined our group is that we can offer something more to their clients that they haven’t been able to access previously.
The SMH group contains individual companies that all work closely together to ensure our clients don’t have to go to multiple advisors when seeking professional advice.
As well as being Chartered Accountants our clients now have access to Financial Services, Wills & Probate, Commercial Finance, Residential Mortgages and Corporate Finance across the different offices.”
